Register for the ABC Creative Mind Prize 2015

16 March 2015

The ABC Creative Mind Prize 2015 will be presented to a young academic with an original and exciting research proposal that centres around the aspects of creativity, cognition and/or the workings of the human brain. The winner will be given the opportunity to develop a research plan in the context of the University of Amsterdam in Brain and Cognition programme and to distinguish him or herself as a promising researcher.

 ABC Creative Mind Prize 2015

The award is an initiative of the Freek and Hella de Jonge Foundation. The prize aims to draw further attention to research on creativity and its underlying cognitive processes, such as the perception of painters, the associative abilities of cabaret artists or the architectural design process.  The research project may be conducted in various academic disciplines, as long as it is themed around ‘cognition and the brain’. Applications will be assessed on the basis of the following key criterion: the research project must be based on a new, unexpected idea on the brain’s role in the creative process, and the applicant must submit a plan outlining how he/she aims to research this aspect.

Who is eligible?

The prize will be awarded to a postdoctoral researcher working on cognition and the brain. The candidate must be a young academic without a permanent position who has demonstrated his/her academic abilities in the area of cognition and the brain.

Prize

The winner will receive €10,000, to be used for purposes in accordance with the submitted proposal. The prize winner will also have the opportunity to carry out his/her research plan within the framework of an ABC Talent Programme. The prize will be presented during a ceremony on Monday, 1 June 2015 in the Flemish Arts Centre De Brakke Grond. The registration deadline is 15 April 2015.
