The Sleep and Cognition Event is organised by the research group Brain & Cognition.
|Date||Start 10 May 2016||End 11 May 2016|
Robert Stickgold (Harvard Medical School) is one of the founding fathers of the field of Sleep and Cognition. He has authored over 160 scientific publications, many of which in high-ranking journals, such as Science, Nature, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron and Current Biology.
On May 10th, Robert Stickgold will give a Master class on the topic of Sleep and Cognition. The Master class is intended for PhD students and junior postdocs working on Sleep and Cognition. Participants will be given the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from Dr. Stickgold, other principal investigators and each other. Following the Master Class on May 10, Robert Stickgold will give a plenary lecture in the ABC lecture series. The lecture is open to all.
On the morning of May 11th, a workshop will be offered at the UvA Sleep lab by the group of Lucia Talamini. The workshop will deal with some state of the art methods in sleep and cognition research, including methods to manipulate memories during sleep. For instance, closed-loop stimulation, which allows the targeting of stimuli to any pre-determined phase of oscillatory brain activity. There will also be a demonstration of EventIDE (Okazolab), a new and user-friendly stimulus presentation platform that is highly suited for closed-loop stimulation procedures and other forms of interactive stimulus presentation.
Both junior and senior scientists are welcome to join all parts of the program.
