Our actions are guided by our expectations about forthcoming events and their associated potential costs (effort, time) and benefits (rewards). I will review recent work using modelling, neuroimaging and neurostimulation approaches on how some of these variables influence our decisions and actions, and whether there are privilged routes to and computations within the motor system for decisions-for-actions.
