Aim

Inter-institutional, interdisciplinary
iBBA-ABC Support Funding is intended to increase interdisciplinary collaboration between iBBA and ABC researchers: the grant proposal must include one PI from iBBA and one from ABC (inter-institutional). The aim is to provide additional support for research between ABC and iBBA members from different disciplines (and preferably, from different faculties (ABC) and sections (iBBA)).

01 March 2026   (23:59)
The submissions will be evaluated by a committee consisting of iBBA and ABC Board members. We aim to inform applicants of the outcome of their application within 3 weeks from the date of submission.

What can be applied for?

RA salary*, participant money, materials, …
*RAs will be appointed by the PI’s home institution, following the institution’s HR policies.

Budget Max. € 2.500,-
The budget must be spent within the calendar year of the award.
Budget is available for max. 4 grants per year.

Who can apply?

  • PIs are ABC and iBBA members (lecturers, assistant, associate or full professors)
    with at least a 0.5 fte appointment at the UvA/VU/AUMC.
  • ABC and iBBA Board members are not permitted to submit as PIs.​​​​​​

Application requirements

  • Applications must be drawn up in the provided application form.
  • Applications can be uploaded either through the ABC website or be sent by email to: c.trentin@vu.nl.
  • Main goal: increase inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Applicants may only submit one iBBA-ABC proposal per grant round.

Application assessment

The Support Grant Selection Committee will evaluate the applications on the basis of:

  • The potential to increase inter-institutional and interdisciplinary collaboration (50%).
    Priority will be given to research proposals that connect researchers from ABC and iBBA who do not work in the same area.
  • The quality and originality of the proposed research (50%).
