ABC does not currently have any open calls for grants.
Amsterdam Brain and Cognition provides funding to promote innovative and excellent research in the area of brain and cognitive sciences.
ABC grants are intended to motivate and enhance interfaculty research collaborations that are of an interdisciplinary nature. The overall mission is to come to a better understanding of the mechanisms of cognition, from perception to decision making, from language to music, and from memory to consciousness. ABC encourages collaborative projects in which more than one faculty is involved, and where there is an integrated plan of how to address a key question in brain and cognitive sciences in an innovative and interdisciplinary fashion.
Three types of grants
ABC offers three grant types. ABC Themes & Transversal Perspectives Funding provides support for events which foster collaboration within or across ABC Themes or Perspectives, aiming to increase their visibility. The ABC Support Grant supports ABC members in their (ongoing), cross-disciplinary (preferably cross-faculty) research. The iBBA-ABC Support Grant is designed to foster collaboration between ABC and iBBA members; proposals must include one PI from each organisation.

ABC Themes & Transversal Perspectives Funding
Aim
ABC Themes & Transversal Perspectives Funding is intended to support ABC members of all ranks. The aim is to enhance and strengthen the collaboration and cohesion within an ABC Theme or Transversal Perspective, or the connection between ABC Themes & Perspectives, and to increase the relevant ABC Theme or Perspective’s visibility to external national or international parties. These parties can be academic and/or non-academic (e.g., societal institutions, industry).
What can be applied for?
Funding for events including symposia, master classes, lectures and workshops.

ABC Support Grant
Aim
The ABC Support Grant is intended to increase interdisciplinary collaboration between ABC members of all ranks. The aim is to provide additional support for ongoing, cross-disciplinary research between ABC members. Applications should preferably include ABC members of different UvA faculties.
What can be applied for?
Research costs including RA salary, participant fees, and materials.

iBBA-ABC Support Grant
Aim
iBBA-ABC Support Funding is a joint initiative between the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam’s Institute Brain and Behaviour Amsterdam (iBBA) and ABC. The grant intends to increase interdisciplinary collaboration between iBBA and ABC members, providing additional support for their joint research. Grant proposals must include one PI from iBBA and one from ABC, each from different disciplines. Researchers will preferably be from different faculties (ABC) and sections (iBBA).
What can be applied for?
Research costs including RA salary*, participant fees, and materials.
*RAs will be appointed by the PI’s home institution, following the institution’s HR policies.
